About Winnie

Winnie is a TV news reporter for Central Arkansas’ THV11. She leads the 6pm newscast, and she’s the one on scene when breaking news is taking place. She has experience working with major political figures in the State of AR and has used her relationships in those networks to source some of the most late braking stories in the state. Winnie knows what she’s doing when it comes to finding the stories the public needs to hear and reporting them in a way that they want to hear them.

The Challenge

Winnie’s connections and TV presence put a lot of pressure on us to make her website look pristine. She was great to work with and gave us pretty open ended requirements, but we wanted to add some customized features to her site that would really make her stand out among her peers. Personal brand websites are growing in popularity, but there isn’t a lot of “user expectations” as we like to call them. We developed Winnie’s site based on use-case scenarios of the visitors she anticipated viewing her site the most.

The Solution

With so much of Winnie’s business happening on social media, we really wanted to integrate a predominantly flat design with some material design aspects that people are accustomed to experiencing on the major social platforms. Bold, clean, and low contrast headers with a negative letter spacing are something that everyone expects when they encounter a trendy digital interface right now (iOS 11, Pinterest, Hulu, and others).  Having a one-click downloadable resume was a must for someone in the market for a new job, and circular images bring home the “social profile” vibe we were going for.

No. 1 Goal

“I want people to come to my website and say, ‘Whoa, she’s really professional'”

Social Integration

For us, the best way to show Winnie’s users that she was a true professional and great at what she does was to give them access to her own social media sites. We snooped through her profiles a little bit at the beginning of this project and realized that Winnie is constantly publishing amazing stories and showing her talent right there on her personal profiles. We wanted her visitors to learn about who she is by seeing who she is on all the time.
